No, this isn’t about the well-known film by David Lynch, nor about its soundtrack of the same name that was sung by Roy Orbison’s warm voice; yet, the use this fabric to upholster the furniture of a place immediately creates a morbid and somewhat decadent atmosphere, which brings back thoughts of dust and luxury…

Some hate it, others love it, but velvet is definitely a fabric that recalls a precious idea, and is used by interior designers to give any room a sophisticated look. In this little living room, we find it used as upholstery for the couch, in the color of the deep blue sea with all of its hues and profundity.  The pairing with the vintage leather of the armchair downplays and adds three-dimensionality to the arrangement. And if you love this fabric so much, why not put it in more than one room? In the bedroom, the color is dark green and the upholstered object is the bedhead, “ton sur ton” with the walls.

Dalani, Ottiu, Posh Living and even the new collection Stokholm 2017 from Ikea propose furniture in this precious fabric, to satisfy any need and to allow any home the possibility to measure up to Arab boudoir or cinematic film sets from the 50s.

Digression by a compulsive interior designer: don’t miss the candle-style lights on the wall and the kitchen table, to keep up the theme of a classic and slightly mysterious past.
