Rinnovare un’ex scuola di ballo in un bellissimo appartamento: questo il progetto dello studio di design Stone and Partners, fautori anche della ristrutturazione dal 2010 di proprietà residenziali, compresi una intera tenuta viticola nell’Aveyron, uno chalet di montagna in Alta Savoia e una villa Belle Epoque sulla Costa Azzurra. In questi 110 mq, tutti sul primo piano di una struttura del secolo passato,  nuovo e antico si mischiano brillantemente: a rivestire il pavimento un elegantissimo parquet in legno massello restaurato con motivo a Versailles che incontra in cucina mobili modulari in acciaio inossidabile, mentre le travi in legno a vista si combinano con travi in acciaio rosso, per un effetto a metà strada tra il loft e la villa d’epoca. Ma le sorprese per questa ex scuola di ballo non finiscono qui: stucchi alle pareti e grandi spazi ariosi dall’effetto scenografico indiscutibile (parliamo di soffitti alti 4 metri) fanno da cornice perfetta a grandi finestre alla francese che permettono alla luce di entrare in abbondanza, grazie anche alla parete Crittall in vetro e ferro che separa il soggiorno dal resto della casa. Sopra la cucina troviamo la camera da letto dal gusto etnico con vasca en suite e un magnifico lavabo in marmo di Carrara dal design unico. Niente male per una scuola!

Frances & Nigel Stone fondarono la Virgile and Stone Design and Architecture nel 1990; lo studio ha lavorato a livello internazionale e ha vinto premi grazie ad un progetto per Patek Philippe, mentre vanta la realizzazione di negozi a Parigi e Londra di Yves Saint Laurent, a Milano, Roma e Madrid di Burberry, così come molti hotel e progetti di grande impatto a livello mondiale.

Renovating a former dance school into a beautiful apartment: this is the project of the design studio Stone and Partners, also advocates of renovation since 2010 of residential properties including an entire wine estate in Aveyron, a mountain chalet in Haute-Savoie and a Belle Epoque villa on the Cote d’Azure. In this 110 square meters, all on the first floor of a structure of the past century, new and old mix brilliantly: the floor is an elegant solid wood parquet restored with a Versailles motif that meets modular stainless steel furniture in the kitchen, while the exposed wooden beams combine with red steel beams, for an effect halfway between loft and period villa. But the surprises for this former dance school do not finish here: stucco walls and large, airy spaces with an indisputable scenographic effect (we’re talking about 4 meter high ceilings) are the perfect setting for large French windows that allow plenty of light to enter, thanks also to the Crittall wall in glass and iron the separates the living room from the rest of the house. Above the kitchen is the bedroom with an ethnic taste with bathtub en suite and a magnificent Carrara marble sink of a unique design. Not bad for a school!
